Valor Remembered

Araw ng Kagitingan is a day when we celebrate and honor the Filipino and American soldiers who fought against the Japanese invasion in World War II. Despite being outnumbered by their opponents, they didn't hesitate to fight for our freedom. As a result, many lives were lost during the war. The battle occurred in Bataan on April 9, 1942.

During the battle between Filipino-American allies and Japanese soldiers, it is evident that the Japanese soldiers outnumbered the Filipino and American soldiers. This presented one of the many challenges faced by the allied forces during the war. They also lacked weapons and essential resources such as food. However, do you know what really amazed me? It's the fact that our soldiers did their best to protect our country, which is truly one of a kind and deserving of a big salute for their bravery and courage during the war. Sadly, many of our fellow soldiers were forced to surrender during that time, resulting in their capture by the Japanese soldiers. They were then forced to walk many miles without being given food or water during the death march. It's cruel, isn't it?

As I continue to reflect on the terrible experiences that our fellow soldiers endured during the war, I've come to appreciate why celebrating Araw ng Kagitingan is significant for us Filipinos. It is through the sacrifices of these soldiers that we attained freedom, so celebrating this day also means honoring their contributions to our country.
