CBR: A Collaborative Journey on Labor and Employment

Community-Based Research is a method for us to gather diverse information and address issues related to labor and employment in our community of Vigan. As researchers, we were tasked with interviewing various individuals in our community who are involved in businesses and occupations. When Mrs. Vera Cruz grouped us based on our residences, I initially felt confused, as it was the first time we would be working in groups. Are you excited to witness our journey through our community-based research? Without further ado, let's get right into it:

Firstly, of course, we would not have been able to create this CBR of ours if there had been no brainstorming within our group. We gathered at the library to share our ideas with one another on how we plan to start our research. We felt a sense of teamwork as each one of us shared our thoughts regarding our outline on the said project. After the brainstorming, we then decided on what specific part of the research to work on individually so that it will be much more faster to accomplish the given task.

Secondly, as days passed, we could already feel the pressure of finishing our research since we were only given limited time to accomplish it. Additionally, our pending activities further hindered our ability to focus on our Community-Based Research. However, with great teamwork, we managed to finish our task on time. My fellow researchers conducted interviews with various individuals in our community, such as Empanada vendors, Kalesa drivers, and ice cream vendors. We were thankful for their active participation, as without it, we would not have been able to complete our research paper and gather necessary information.

Thirdly, as soon as they finished interviewing, I immediately started my part in our research paper, which includes recommendations and a bibliography. For our recommendations, I based them on the answers given by the people interviewed by my fellow researchers, focusing on how to address the issues they faced. I didn't face any struggles in completing my part, as I was confident in doing it.

Lastly, as of this moment, we are now creating our individual web designs, and seeing our group work together as one forms a big smile on my face. When one of our groupmates is struggling in completing his or her part, we would approach him or her for guidance.

To sum it up, creating our Community-Based Research was exhausting yet filled of excitement. In the end, we managed to finish it on time, which was a significant accomplishment. One important lesson I gained from this journey is the value of teamwork; it enabled us to support each other in times of need. Seeing our completed research paper is fulfilling as it symbolizes our collective effort as a group.

Tres

Time flies so fast I couldn't believe that the 3rd Quarter has already come to an end. Looking back at the things I've experienced this quarter, I can say that it was a quarter yet again full of surprises. I really enjoyed the activities given to us, especially in our ICT subject as we were able to apply our learnings on how to create different lists through using the appropriate tags. In addition to that, making blogs excites me the most. It gives me the chance to communicate my feelings to certain topics given to us.

The main problem that I have encountered this quarter is yet again academic pressure. I always ask myself ''How will I live up to the expectations of other people in me?'', ''How will  I perform better this quarter?''. I have always pressured myself hoping that I can still push myself more to strive harder when it comes to my academics. In overcoming this problem, I always remind myself to not give in to pressure and just give my best in everything I do.

Moving on, I will use my learnings this quarter to consistently improve for my betterment and continue exploring new things. Despite the obstacles I've faced this quarter, I was able to enjoy it to the fullest as there were activities that captured my interest.

122nd High School Day: Vibrant Memories

Celebrating High School Day is a yearly tradition that commemorates the vibrant spirit and cherished memories of our school community. Have you ever wished to witness a celebration from the past? If not, now's your chance to experience our 122nd High School Day Celebration. Engaging activities, such as the Grand Parade, booths prepared by club officers from each department, and the highlight, the Field Demonstration, were conducted.

Participating in the Grand Parade was undoubtedly exhausting, but I would not deny that it was an unforgettable experience. In this Grand Parade, one can see the astonishing and colorful props created by the teachers and students from each grade level. You will also witness the members of the royal court sitting on their respective transportation, decorated by the departments in our school. Judging by the expressions of the spectators, it's clear they were amazed by the number of students in our school.

The booths prepared by the club officers from each department were creative, and students were engaged and had a lot of fun experiencing them. The activities included were engaging, such as the photo booth where students could pose with their friends, and the freedom wall where students could express themselves. Fun, isn't it? But wait, there's more:

The highlight and most awaited event was the Field Demonstration! The last field demonstration at ISNHS took place during the pandemic, so it's understandable why spectators were excited to witness the performance of students from each grade level. Honestly, practices were tiring, but in the end, the students' efforts paid off. Regarding the winners of the field demonstration, the Grade 10 Boys won the championship title representing Cebu's Candle Festival, while the Grade 9 Girls won the championship title representing Ilocos Sur's Tobacco Festival.

The 122nd High School Day Celebration of ISNHS was indeed a success, as seen in the various activities conducted throughout the event. From the Grand Parade to the booth prepared by club officers from each department, and exhilarating Field Demonstration, the celebration truly showcased the talent, dedication, and unity within the ISNHS community. It was a memorable occasion that brought joy and pride to all involved.

MARCHing Towards Equality

As March begins, we not only celebrate the achievements and contributions of women throughout history but also acknowledge the ongoing struggle for gender equality. This month serves as a reminder of the determination of those who fought tirelessly for women's rights, serving as a way for progress and positive change within the whole world.

Despite progress, it is essential to acknowledge that as of this year, many women continue to face degradation and discrimination, particularly in their workplaces. Sadly, these environments often suppress their voices and opinions, continuing a culture where they are undervalued and overlooked. This reality contradicts the fundamental principle that every individual deserves to be heard and treated with respect. Irrespective of gender, it is important that we actively work towards creating equitable workplaces where all voices are valued and respected.

As we commemorate Women's Month, let us recommit ourselves to promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion in all aspects of society, ensuring that the voices and experiences of women are valued and uplifted.
